The problem with having a monopoly in the marketplace is that Access Heath can get away with extremely poor customer service from untrained incompetent representatives because there is no other option

Access Health Ct - The problem with having a monopoly in the marketplace is that Access Heath can...
The Access Heath monopoly and failed customer service needs to go. This is supposed to be about health care access for everyone, therefore Access Heath needs to be replaced with something that works and puts people before profits. This is a broken monopolistic failed system that needs to go now.

Cons:

Preferred solution: A better option because Access Heath is a failed option.

User's recommendation: Start filing written complaints with the appropriate agencies. Do not give up. You are not the only one being disregard and ignored by Access Heath. They are making a substantial amount of revenue to provide a service they are not equipped to handle and have failed miserably to provide. What happened to our system capitalism and competition that is typically a benefit to the consumer unless there is some hidden corruption? Access Health's customer service representatives are poorly trained and incompetent about everything beyond the realm of their cue cards. This is not a reflection on them it is a result of the poor management from top to bottom by people that are getting paid far more than they are worth. In a real world competitive marketplace Access Heath would not be capable of attracting or retaining enough consumers to keep their business profitable and they would disappear. I am not crazy just look online their approval ratings. Most are around 99% negative. They need to go anmd they need to go now. If this does not happen then we should ask ourselves why and then start looking political connections keeping them in place as the sole source for the State of CT's perception affordable insurance with deductibles that could bankrupt. anyone. I have had issues with everything from coverage not being in place when it should have been. I have had income tax returns delayed for as long as 26 moths because of their inability to process information accurately. I have had a problem with just about everything every time any changes or updates are require. If they tell you someone will get back to you do not wait just hang up and call back and keep calling until they resolve your issue. I do not even know how this is legal and none of this is covered under anti trust laws. I will be contacting an attorney this time to get that answer. I am on a personal mission to have them replaced with something better that actually works. I hope that everyone who is no longer is willing to tolerate this system will follow up. Not only try to resolve their own issues but continue beyond that issue to help find a better solution to this broken system for the greeter good of everyone involved. This is a broken monopolistic failed system that needs to go now.

Rude and incompetent customer service

Original review Jan 24, 2024
Customer service is rude and unprofessional. A KAREN hung up on me, I immediately called back requesting a supervisor, a rep took my complaint, and said she knew exactly whom I was talking about, Maria, and that her supervisor would call me back.

Been almost 2 weeks, and no call back, so I called again and did another complaint, all I got was 'I'm sorry you went through that. Behavioral health department is even worse as well as medical transportation that dont come pick up up when they are supposed to or is almost an hour late, making you miss appointments. Complaints go nowhere. Husky D is the absolutely worse, I am elder and disabled and all I can afford.

Why are they even being funded. The rude rep, Maria, supervisor, Felicia, finally called me today, asking if I still wanted to work with Maria or a different peer support person, I asked her if she had reprimanded or spoken to Maria, she said no and the calls are not recorded because Maria called me on her personal cell phone, so its my word against hers, so I asked her what makes her think I want to receive mental health services from her company, Caroline behavioral health when they have rude reps that are not reprimanded, they get away with it. I ended the call by hanging up. Its obvious by my last name that I am a person of color, and those 2 are white women, I call Caroline behavioral health a racist, unprofessional company.

Following up with the Obudsman of CT mental health. This needs to stop.

No help, Not coverage I requested, No Customer service response

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I called for healthcare coverage and was provided a similar one that I had through my previous employer, Then I called to see if I could save some money since I was still out of work, 3 to 4 months later and it was hard with such a large payment and has to be paid once a month/ no option for partial payment, They Charged me another enrollment fee, even though I had paid one already, Also I can not get ahold of cust service and had to cancel my eye appointment. My Doctor's office kept trying and no luck either Everyone I spoke to at the CT Health care access number just points the blame at everyone else, I ended up paying for two insurance's because I was told it would automatically be canceled and it was horrible all around.

Waste of money since I can not get a hold of anyone to confirm coverage with my doctor. This should be last resort and everyone just passes you around to the next person, I even had someone hang up when I asked if they could answer some questions for me.

Over charged for healthcare with the bronze plan

I signed up for healthcare last year of August 2022 and got the bronze plan and for 2024 the silver plan, but I canceled silver plan before it started. The bronze plan was $16 dollars of month with Anthem.

Anthem went in my bank account and over drafted my account for over $13,000 dollars on January 4, 2024 in which I did not have that kind of money and now Im fighting with anthem and my bank to retrieve my money in which I did have in my account. What kind of business are you people running.

If I dont get my little bit of money back in which I did have I will be filing a law suit. Thats considered fraud!!

You say $13,000 in your post but post loss of $1234. What amount was withdrawn?

How did the monthly premium go from $16 to $1234? And what else did you pay that caused $13,000 overdraft?

Excessive Cost for *** Coverage

We pay an unbelievable ridiculous amount of money for my husband's health insurance...the coverage sucks, and they barely pay anything. As much as I would love to enroll in the gold plan, the bronze is all that we can afford, and of course, the middle class make too much money to get any subsidies.

GI can not file my taxes and will not be able to meet the April 15th deadline to file. I needed to get a 1095-A form from Access Health because I had not received my form back in January when they were to be sent.

I was told to check on their website for my form and eventually found it- only to find out that it was my 2020 ****A form and didn't reflect any of the insurance premium information. I now have the wrong form and was never even sent it. After multiple phone calls, I was told that my issue had been escalated and my issue was under review and they had no idea when it would get resolved - maybe weeks, maybe 2 months. I have been calling for a month now, and every time I am told that my issue is being worked on.

I asked for a supervisor and no one was available. I am one very unhappy Access Health customer!

I don’t know if you will see this. I am going through the same thing with 1095a form.

There is a complete disconnect between Customer Service and myself. No idea who runs the show there. Have spent days trying to get an answer . They are under social services.

Whether Social Services gets involved directly in income tax credit review who know. The customer service tells you they work for Access Health but are all outsourced. Fanauel is the company that Access Health uses for their customer Service. No idea as far as the other departments.

I hear many people wait like this….why does it take three months? Why do they tell you if you do not get your form now to file for an extension?

It is only February and it is on their sight. No idea if at some point you could access this info through internal revenue..,,you should be able to.

1095-A

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Waiting for a 1095-a, keep getting told it's under review and escalation. It is now April 18th and I've had to file an extension which I've never done before.

I'm getting thousands back on my refund and need that to get an apartment and a car. This has been going on for months.

I've never had such an issue with taxes before and this has totally screwed me. Of course the customer service department has no clue, there's no one to talk with there's no one to check with or direct person to get information about what the *** is going on.

Terrible service incompetent employees

II applied for medical in March as of today I have no medical due to Access Health continuing to send Connecticut Care the Incorrect information. Ive had conferences calls with Connecticut Care along with a broker informing them that they continue to send the incorrect information.

Luckily I had the representative from Connecticut Care on the phone, when we called together and staff had no idea What a tax credit was and hung up and didnt put an note regarding the call, she had to call back to report the staff. Me and my husband have major medical issues. Ive been insulin dependent for 21 years, my husband is a cancer survivor who needs to attend appointments for the next 5 years to make sure the cancer doesnt return but we both have to cancel multiple appointments due to your non caring employees and supervisors. How can you work dealing with such important issues such as health and be so incompetent,so Im not talking as much insulin as needed because I cant afford to purchase out of my pocket.

So Im totally frustrated and Im going to go up the ladder to report your incompetent employees and inform everyone that you guys shouldnt be handling important issues such as health and after reading the reviews Im not the only one. I guess I have to go into a diabetic coma. Who ever the CEO of the company I hope you lose your grant money, shame on you handling such important issues and not caring. If due to your negligence I become sick im Im going to sue someone.

I have a journal along with all the paperwork and the insurance broker who had attempted to help me for proof. Stop working with important issues dealing with medical and work in a warehouse were you can work with boxes instead of people.

You guys are horrible. I worked as a Case Mgr for over 25 years and I never heard of anything so horrible.

We applied for health coverage in January. As of 2/23/2022 we have not received a membership#. We have called and even re-applied in attempt to fix our issue. After numerous phone calls and twice being elevated to "Escalation Status" we continue to have no answers. Today we asked to speak to a supervisor and we were not allowed to speak with a supervisor. The treatment of our issues have been properly handled by the phone representatives but anyone higher than that have consistently dropped their responsibility. SHAME on Access Health CT!!

Receiving Spam after attempting to use website

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I recently attempted to find health care for my wife and I through the Access Health CT website. As soon as I provided my personal information (mandatory) My phone immediately exploded with more spam calls in one day than I normally receive in an entire year.

This continued for several days and I am now receiving spam emails. I am astonished at how inconsiderate and shameless these people are to share my personal information!!!!

Cons:
  • Did not care whatsoever about my problems
  • Uncaring
  • Dishonesty

Preferred solution: Guarantee that I never receive another spam email or phone call pursuant to my interactions with you

User's recommendation: Go with a private health care provider. It is cheaper and they do not share your information. Obamacare is a SCAM

ReEnrollment each year sucks...

Every year, something else goes wrong on their website. Either it's impossible to navigate or it doesn't work in a popular browser.

For the past 3 years, I've had to renew over the phone due to faults in the website design.

If you make it to one screen, but made a mistake 5 screens ago....out of luck. Give us a call to resolve.

This year, I was told today via chat that I missed an option early on in the process. Instead of selecting "Chose a plan" (or something like that), I should have chosen "Choose a plan with Assistance". Apparently, that means many screens later, it would have shown my subsidy applied to the plan instead of paying full price.

And of course, the website wouldn't let me to back and choose that option.

Who goes online to pay full price if there is a subsidy?

Why is that even a choice?

Ok, I've vented, sorry. But every year, it's something different :(
